I recently purchased a new 15 gallon stainless pot that I plan being able to both mash and boil. I built a rectangular manifold from 1/2" pipe that attaches to the ball valve, however, the pot will only drain to the level of the ball valve opening. Shouldn't the manifold be picking up the water above it? I have tried positioning the slits in the manifold facing up and facing down with the same result, and I don't know what I'm missing. Any ideas or input would be most appreciated.

Do you have a hose attached? If not, when the fluid reaches the ball valve, it breaks the syphon.

No hose, just the water draining into a sink directly from the nipple in the ball valve. I'll try with a hose tonight and see if that helps. Thanks!
