Spray paint or something like it would work. I'd be careful around lhe lip, maby leave a strip of bare glass. It would be good for transporting bottles, if this is an issue.

I'd imagine it'd be a pain to have flakes of dried paint everywhere once the bottles start to peel...wouldn't do much for presentation either.
 
Finding a paint that will stick to glass and not flake will be a problem, but it should work.
 
You could always sand the outside of the bottles with 300 grit or higher sandpaper to rough it up for the paint.
 
On second thought, if you were looking for something unique and insteresting you coudl rough the glass and do some sort of airbrushing on the bottle that might look really cool.
