Hello all,

First post in a long time. The Mrs. and I have purchased a house and so naturally my first thought was time for a kegerator. I’m looking to build a stand-up kegerator with 4 taps. I’m reasonably handy with tools but have a hard time visualising parts, builds etc. so I’d like to keep my buying process as simple as possible. Also I’m in Canada so using a seller who ships to Canada is necessary. I have a few kegerator questions hopefully some can help me with.

1.Parts. If I buy this package, 4 ball-lock kegs and some extra O-rings is that everything I need?

http://www.ontariobeerkegs.com/Four_Tap_Kegerator_Kit_for_Cornelius_Beer_Kegs_p/4keg-kegerator-pass-through.htm

2. Upgrades. The package offers the following upgrades what are they and which should I get?
a. Ball lock MFL (threaded) connections add $15.96
b. 5 or 10# CO2 tank, I realize I’ll need a tank, how many kegs will a 10# tank last
c. Faucets. Standard (chromes plated), Stainless Steel, Perlick 525SS
d. Drip tray. Is a 6”x4”x1” drip tray wide enough for 4 taps?

3. Cost. The connection package, with 10# CO2, basic connections, stainless steel faucets, 4 kegs and extra O-rings is going to cost around $940. Is that a good price? Like I said I’d rather get all my parts at once and Canadian shipping is required but if I can do dramatically better please let me know.

Since base price of the system in your link is $284, I'm trying to see how you get to $900+.

If you add the 10# tank (which is a good size, it'll last quite some time) and upgrade to Perlick 525SS faucets (highly recommended), that adds another $200. The MFL threaded ball lock connectors are a useful upgrade for $16. Easier cleaning. You're now at $500.

4 used kegs with new o-ring kits ought to run you about $215-255 shipped. You need not buy new kegs unless you just want to spend the extra $$.

With that gear, you'll be pretty set. Get a faucet wrench and some keg lube. Use keg lube on all seals and o-rings.

Buy this wrench - http://www.sears.com/craftsman-11-16-x-7-8-in-wrench-offset-ratchet/p-00943365000P?prdNo=2&blockNo=2&blockType=G2 It will make loosening and tightening keg posts so much easier.

Been doing some more research and seems like all the upgrades I mentioned are worth it.

The kit with 10# tank, 525ss perlick faucets, dual regulator, drip tray and faucet wrench is $606
4 re-conditioned kegs with extra O-rings is $331
Tax and Shipping is $98

So a new total of $1,038 is currently being shown. I found another deal here that looks slightly cheaper:

The kit starts at $575 but gets to $850 when I add all the upgrades and I haven't been quoted Canadian shipping yet.
