Default Corney Modification

Has anyone ever modified a corney by having a section cut in the middle then welding it back to make a smaller keg?

Yuri was in the process of doing that, I'm not sure if he's completed any, though. I think his idea was to basically take two cornies, make one into a 3-gallon one, and use the scrap piece to make the second into a 7-gallon one to use as a fermenter.

Yuri

(haven't seen him on in a while, though )
