Hi, I'm new to cider making.

I am thinking of purchasing the above juicer. Does anybody think I would have any issues using it for making cider? It is great for apple juice. Would it affect the juice for the cider making? I need a robust machine, as i have 1 ton of apples to go through! :)

Comments welcome

When you say a "ton" of apples...do you really mean a couple thousand pounds or just figuratively speaking?

Because I would suggest something more like an apple crusher and a fruit press instead of something like a centrifugal juicer. Even if you are juicing for say 5-10 gallons, it gets to be a chore.

I would suggest a fruit press and grinder (often made of a garbage disposal) for any large quantity of fruit.

It would be an all day project via kitchen juicer for 5 gallons, and it might not be good for the juicer.

I have done the five gallon batch with a jack lalane juicer. I had to stop after about a dozen apples or
So to clean out the pulp. I got it done but am definitely looking for a better way next time. The juicer was free to me and the apples were as well so I wasn't out anything but my time. Check out the DIY stuff online. You may be better to spend your money making something then buying a juicer and having buyers remorse.

I have an Omega Vert something.. it's a masticating juicer for my daily green juice and it crushes the juice out of the fruit. I get very very dry pulp and amazing juice from it, (and no foam!) but I am not sure how the motor would like crushing gallons at a time.
Masticating juicers give better quality juice and there is also much less oxidation than with centrifugal juicers.

I think everyone should have a juicer, if only for green juice! So healthy.
