I'm currently brewing a 3 gallon cru select chocolate orange port kit. This weekend it will be time to bottle. The instructions recommend filtering before bottling to prevent renewed fermentation. Is this absolutely necessary? SWMBO has put a stop to my equipment purchases for the time being, and I don't have a filter yet.
If it is necessary, does anyone have advice on how to make an inexpensive filter system? Maybe $20 - $30.
