I've been thinking about building an electric brew system and I've done a lot of reading. I'm pretty sure I can build either control system. But I was wonder which way would be the better way to go? Long term vs short term. Any suggestions would help as the more I read the more questions I come up with.

In my opinion both have their advantages, StrangeBrew is cheaper to expand IMO, and has more inbuilt functionality than a hardwired control panel (mash steps, timers, pump control etc...).

If you want to add more temperature sensors, it's the cost of the sensor ($9 iirc for a waterproof thermowell).
If you want to add more outputs, it's the SSR + Element + Wiring cost, say $60 all in.
If you want to add more pumps, it's the pump + relay cost.

Can you add fermention temp sensors and controls to the Strangebrew along with being able to control your Brewing Processes?
