I am looking for some suggestions as to where to store my fermentor (primary and/or secondary) during the summer heat. Where I live, it is easily in the triple digits (100+) for weeks at a time. Normally I would let my batch ferment in the garage but it feels more like an oven than it does a garage most days. Keeping my wort under 70 degrees is almost an impossibility. Anyone else with this problem? Solutions?

I bought one of these for about $60. Every 12 hours I swapped out 2 frozen 2 liter bottles and it kept the fermenter 10 degrees colder than ambient.

Edit with 4 or more bottles swapping out 2 every 12 hours you could possibly lower the inside temp by 20 degrees

I getting ready to pitch the yeast into a smoked porter that I have cooling in a 60 quart igloo cooler in the guest bathroom. I pour in some water, approx up to the 4 gallon mark, and toss in a couple of plastic one liter bottles of ice, then swap out the bottles of ice every so often, usually before I go to bed, and again when I get up. I cover the fermentation bucket with a couple of thick towels, since the lid of the cooler hits the bucket. I can easily maintain low 60s during fermentation.

:) Do a forum search for swamp coolers, and you'll see plenty of other ideas ;)
