I have a new 14 gallon chronical I am using for the first time. The fermentation did not go as I expected. At 5 days the S.G. was 1.030 and the bubbling in the airlock slowed quite a bit. I was planning on trying to add more yeast and aerating the wort. I ended up getting very busy at a new job and did not get to it till today. The S.G. has settled to 1.012, so I think fermentation is pretty much over now.
I was hoping to drain the trub out after fermentation died down, but now it is past the window of opportunity I was expecting to take advantage of. The yeast was pitched 12 days ago. I have a large pile of trub and yeast now at the bottom of my fermenter. How should I drain it and clean out the yeast from the trub?
