Brewersfriend VS Beersmith calculators

Hey everyone, so I'm trying to calculate a yeast starter.

I own beersmith 2.0 and use brewersfriend.com whenever I'm not able to go on beersmith.

I'm making a 1098 OG wee heavy and am a little concerned with the differences in the cell count of my starter.

Brewers friend I selected:
OG: 1.098
Volume: 5.5
Pitch rate: Pro Brewer 1.0
Yeast type: Liquid 1 pack
Mfg date: 01/14/14

This tells me I have about 33 billion cells. And I need 486 billion.

After making a 4 L starter on a stir plate it tells me I will have

608 billion cells.

Now, beersmith tells me that my cells without starter are 45.2 B and need to have 465.9 B (a little different than brewersfriend but no big deal)

But when I make a 4 L starter with the same yeast and expiration date it tells me I will have 270.9 B cells.

Now, that's a huge difference for two reasons.
1) it's a big difference from 270 to 608.
2) beersmith tells me I'm under pitching while brewersfriend tells me I'm over pitching.

I don't know who to trust or if maybe there's just something I need to configure on beersmith but can you guys give me some thoughts on this and if I'm good or not?

Info on the starter I DID make: 4 L with about 411g DME

I've never liked Beersmith's yeast calculations. Brewer's Friend and YeastCalc both show 608 billion as how much you have. That's the Probrewer 1.25 (Ale, or High Gravity Ale) recommended rate. So your on the high range, but still within the recommended for high gravity.

1.25M cells x 1ml x *plato
1,250,000 cells x 20,820ml x 23.25* Plato = 605 Billion

I think you'll be just fine and if you have attenuation problems it will not be for lack of yeast.

In beersmith, did you have stirplate checked?

BS and BF have different numbers for priming as well. Which is more accurate? BF is calculating .5oz more table sugar than BS to hit my desired 2.5vols. Is .5oz a significant amount in a 5.25g batch? I’ve always relied on BF numbers for bottling.

I wouldn’t consider 0.1 ounces/gallon significant for priming sugar.
