i am looking to use brown sugar as my priming sugar for my american wheal ale. How much brown sugar would i need to achive good carbonation in a 5 gallon batch.

thanks tom

I believe brown sugar has a ppg of 1.042, which is pretty darn close to dextrose, which is what I assume you normally use. I would think 4-5 ozs would do the trick., or 2/3 cup, but you probably dont want to pack it.

just a quick question sorry to hijack, does brown sugar add any extra flavor to the brew, is that why u want to use it?
