I would grill the rib eyes. Smoking is great for thicker pieces of meat like a tri tip, brisquet, or some ribs. Just my opinion of course. I am sure it will still be great.

Gotta agree here. Rib eyes were made for the grill. Brisket was made for smoking. These are God's rules, not mine.

When I say "smoked" I don't mean actually smoked. I put some wood chips on the fire and while it is grilling it absorbs the smoke flavor.

Oh and we did switch to red wine when the steak was served.
