Pros and cons of each?

Look to build jockey box and I don't want to have to prechill the kegs.

Coldplate better?

Generally if you're looking at a 1- or 2-tap box, a coil works better. You get better cooling. In that case I'd go with the 5/16" as you should get more surface area per amount of liquid going through.

When you move up to bigger boxes (i.e. a 6-tap jockey box), you're basically forced into a plate as there's not enough room for 6 separate coils.

Any body have any thoughts on using 50 ft of 3/8 vs 5/16 ? I've read it takes less pressure to use 3/8 and that 3/8 holds more beer...... 5/16 is cheaper but does 3/8 work better?
