New to lager

I am going to try a lager beer in the near future. I have a temp controller and a small fridge. My fermenter wont fit with a air lock so I will use a blow off tube. Is 3/8 tubing ok or should I use a larger diam? All the photos I see use a larger tube. Thanks

The answer would depend on how big your fermenter is and how many gallons of wort you are putting into it.

3/8 tubing should work fine if that's what will fit best with your system. Blowoff with lagers shouldn't be too likely unless you aren't leaving much headspace.

Just be sure to switch to a solid bung or try to fit an airlock before you start lowering the temp to lager temps to avoid the blowoff tube sucking the liquid from your blowoff container.

Thanks for the input. I will rig up a airlock to prevent fermenter from sucking back fluid into wort.
