Hey everyone! So Thanksgiving is fast approaching and i wanted to make a pumpkin-acorn beer. Yes acorn! has anyone tried this and if so any suggestions? to complicate it i only do extract brewing so i will most likely be using the acorns as specialty grains. :mug:

Not with pumpkin, but I've brewed a brown ale with acorns. They are a bit difficult to work with and require a great deal of preparation to extract all of the bitter tannins. I boiled them in salted water 4-5x, dumping the water for a new batch each time. I then roasted them, and crushed into a meal. I had to start with about 5 pounds of nuts to create about 12oz of meal, which I mashed with some 2-row, crystal & chocolate malt. Not sure how they would work as a specialty grain. Good luck!
