House IPA recipe thoughts

So, I've done 1/2 a dozen different extract IPA recipes now and only one even came close to what I was after. It was a GreenFlash WC IPA clone. I'm looking for something with a decent amount of, but not over the top bitterness, but with a strong enveloping hop flavor and aroma. A resinous backbone with a citrus aroma. Green Flash WC IPA, Brooklyn Resin, Treog's Pale Ale (yes, the pa, not hopback), etc. have the flavor profile I'm looking for but some are a bit high on the bitterness. Here's where I'm thinking on the next batch. I may also add some brown sugar to dry it out a bit. .5-1 lb maybe. I also have fresh cascade I could use, but I'm really trying to find a good year-round IPA recipe so maybe not in this one. Thoughts?

Have you thought about using Citra hops at all?

I have, but I'm not sure if it's what I'm after. It's almost too citrusy. I did a citra/sorachi ace saison this year that was fantastic and smelled like grapefruit. Definitely doing that again next spring. I think when I say I'm looking for a citrus aroma, I think I mean something a bit more complex versus one-note. Slightly dank, floral, plus a citrus punch might be a better way to describe the nose I'm after. I could use citra as one of the hop mix though. Not a bad idea.

Man... I think I'd add Willamette and Citra if it were me for that really nice, floral, citrus aroma.

I'd stick to what you have concerning hop varietes. I use those hops in combination all the time. Not as big a Citra fan myself as a lot of people either.... But you might want to up the IBU's a little. A good rule of thumb for me (for an IPA) is to try to match my OG with the IBU. Example: If my IBU it 1.068, then I try to get the IBUs near 68. Not a deal breaker, just what works for me and my pallette.
