I've decided I like to dry hop with free floating whole leaf hops in my Blichmann 14.5 Gallon conical fermenter, sooooo.....anybody out there ever do this using a hop screen that fits over the end of the 1/2 inch racking arm? (no bags, etc for me) There is a screen available that is 7/16 inch diameter and 4 inches long that should fit over the racking arm snugly. If you have done this please tell me your experience with it....does it work well? Anything else (larger) would limit the rotation angle of the racking arm. Appreciate your feeback in advance..Cheers.

My last batch of brew in my Blichmann 7 gal conical had 2 oz of loose leaf hops added during secondary. I had no filter on the racking arm and it racked out just fine.

The majority of the hops floated and only clogged the racking arm when there was about 3 cups of beer left at the bottom of the cone. I added the stainless screen you speak of onto the racking arm in my current brew and I can post how it worked in about 10 days. Note that you have to make sure the screen will not scratch the side of the conical when rotating the racking arm.

Hey man, worked perfectly. Filtered out 1/2 oz of leaf hops plus 2oz of crushed juniper berries with little to no sediment in the beer racked off. Left maybe
1-2 cups of bright beer in the conical.

Where did you get your hop screen that we have discussed briefly? I still do not have one. Was there any issue with scratching the vessel when rotating the racking arm?
