Barley Crusher

As anyone hooked a Barley crusher up to a motor with pulleys? I realize they don't recommend it, but I am willing try if someone else has done it without destroying their mill.

i've heard of hooking it to a motor. never with pulleys tho. Why use pulleys?

The lateral loads that would be placed on the shaft bushings from the use of a pulley system would ruin the bushings in short order. Direct drive gear reduction motor is the ticket.
