I just did my first yeast starter the other day. Everything went fine until I did the good ol push the bung into your container bit that I'm so good at (I'm throwing away that rubber bung, but not before I rip it to pieces).
I did 1 cup of DME in 4 cups of water then I pitched my yeast and shook it a bunch (and have been).
Anyways, from what I'm reading the magic 100 billion cell count hits around 18-24 hours after you pitch.
Should I expect to see a visable krausen? Some people seem to indicate there should. If there is no krausen, should I wait?
Thanks!
