I posted this question in the equipment forum and haven't gotten a response so I thought I'd bring it here.

Bottom line question: If I have an airlock that holds pressure before it releases, will my yeast performance suffer?

I recently got some silicone waterless airlocks and switched out the standard airlock that I had on my beer. The beer was actively fermenting at the time. I put on the silicone airlock and was hoping to see a little burping or something, but I saw nothing at all. I pulled up on the flap and heard a rush of air and even felt it on my face. I felt like that much pressure on the beer wasn't what I wanted, so I put the standard airlock back on. Should I be concerned? I wanted a lower profile airlock so I could ferment in a warm place that I have available, so I just ended up using aluminum foil for now.
