This is my third batch of apple cider and the first time I've ever seen yeast cake on the walls of the carboy. I have been making mead for about 10 years and recently my wife suggested I start branching out. I am not a big fan of beer so I figured cider would be the way to go. Don't tell my wife but she had a brilliant idea both of the previous ciders were amazing. Learned a few things along the way. This latest batch taught me the power of the rhino farts. Very stressful until I found this forum, I almost tossed the batch. And now the yeast sticking all over the carboy has me wondering. I used knottingham and tree top apple cider. Never seen this before in mead so I am hoping its just a product of the ale yeast and nothing serious.

I used Notty all last year with fresh pressed and store juice. Never saw that much but had a little something similar. Ale yeast does drop out fast when it's done.

I've had this happen with ciders and beer. Everything comes out nice and tasty! No worries. Looks like a robust Cider!

If you give a carboy a quick twist, it should fall free from the walls and settle to the bottom.

Thanks for the quick replies. I am gonna be racking in the next few days. This is made with tree top apple cider not apple juice so its a bit darker than the one I made with apple juice so maybe that's why it looks "robust".
