Yeast Advice

I am going to brew a new original IPA recipe soon, and I planned on using White Labs Nottingham Yeast, but my HBS is out. Now I think I am going to use California Ale Yeast. Thoughts? Any other suggestions?

Seems like a fine choice. I tend to use Wyeast American Ale II (1272) for a little bit more fruitiness but the California Ale (I presume it is White Labs) should make a very tasty IPA.

This is my goto yeast for 99% of my beers. And it's the same strain as the whitelabs or wyyeast liquid strains, so it is cheaper as well. And you don't need to make a starter.

I did some searching and have found only rave reviews about this stuff, and my hbs has lots of it in stock so I am going to give it a shot. Thanks brother.

+1 on the US-05. A friend uses Cal Ale V for his IPAs too. I haven't read up on it, so I don't know what it's properties are.

I hear the Northwest Ale strain from Wyeast is nice too. However, I may try the Safale next time. I have about 5-6 packets of that stuff laying around since Midwest likes to send it along with the recipes when I get liquid yeast instead.
