im sure once again im just freaking out but i made a starter today and after everything was said and done i opened the wyeast package and notice that there were two little baggies on the inside and only one of them was popped so i guess my question is the yeast in the smaller poppable bag that only one popped or is that just wort for the yeast (surrounding the little bags) to munch on??

There should only be one little baggie in there, and it's the nutrients for the yeast. The yeast is just in the silver pack. No idea why you had two pouches inside.

HAHA YAHOO!!!!!! thanks yeah i thought the same thing because i felt it pop and went on ahead and started making the starter gave it a shake and heard some fizzing within and then after everything was finished i found that other packet inside they were connected to each other. one was full but i got a little cake at the bottom of the starter so i hope everything is okay as long as i got all the yeast thats what counts. thanks walker i appreciate it. its french saison wyeast 3711 if that makes any diff who knows

Yeah, Wyeast packs have the yeast in the outer pack.. The one you pop is just a bit of nutrients to get the yeast all angried up, and ready to go.

If I make a starter, I usually don't even pop the inner pack, just toss the yeast slurry into the cooled wort and fermaid in the flask.

I just brewed a Chinook IPA and when I poured the Wyeast pack in I noticed on packaged not ruptured. Never used Wyeast before. I freaked out as well. I am currently sweating through a t-shirt searching for answers....looks like I got one above. Doesn't help that my local HBS has a busy phone for the past 1/2 hour.
