Was going to keg for my first time tonight but I'm so frustrated I'm considering bottling!

Before I transferred my beer, I wanted to make sure all my fittings were working.

The CO2 connector is stuck to my keg and won't come off. . . been pulling at it for 11/2 hours.

WTF did I do wrong? How do I get this thing off?

Generally, I believe the gas post has slots in the bottom to delineate it as the gas post. No slots generally mean liquid. Soooo, you may have it on the wrong one

See if you can find something thin to push in the little round parts. You may need two people so one can pull while the other pushes in those pieces, if that's possible.

I've forced a gas connect onto a liquid post and visa versa. They aren't easy to get on when you have them on the wrong post and they are even harder to get off. Last time I did this I had to gently pry up on the disconnect using a flat head screw driver while holding the release ring up and pulling up on the disconnect.

Not fun. But if you are gentle but firm it should come off.

Edit.

Since you removed the post from the keg, a screw driver won't help much. I would use a pair of channel locks adjusted to be lose on the post as a lever between the post bolt and the disconnect. While holding up the disconnect ring (to disengage the locking balls) rock the channel locks to pry the post from the disconnect.

Thank you for your prompt responses.

I bought 2 used kegs. Apparently the one I tried to use has to "out" connectors. Thankfully, the other has one for gas and another for beer. . . . I spend 5 minutes comparing the 2 (outs) before getting started. . . should've known something was wrong when they were clearly the same. . . doh!

Thank again for your help!!

I did the same once. If you take apart the air post from the top with a flat head screw driver you can pull out the guts and you will be staring down at the keg post, I just took a screwdriver and just pushed on the center of the post until it "popped" out. Hope this makes sense

Thank you! I'm going to try this tonight!

I'm guessing you got your liquid post and gas disconnect apart. But if not, put them in the freezer for a couple of hours. The metal post should contract much more than the plastic disconnect, making them come right apart. Maybe.
