Ok so i've done 3 ag batches now and have been trying to read up on things as much as possible.
I came across threads and articles about batch and fly sparging and I realized neither really sounded exactly like what I have been doing, so my question is what the heck am I doing and is this wrong?
So here is what I'm doing:
I mash for an hour or so and drain all the wort.
I then take my heated sparge water (175F) and use a small pot to add it to the cooler. (This takes me about 10 minutes)
I then give a bit of a stir and open up the valve so it starts to very slowly drain (it takes about an hour to drain)
I then add this to my first runnings.
So am I doing this completely wrong?
I use an igloo cooler with false bottom for the whole process.
My efficiency has been 70%, 72%, and 71%.
