Relatively new brewer here looking to start upgrading stuff. I would like to get a party pig and an immersion chiller. Looking for the pig to be a full kit (pig with hardware, stand with velcro strap, bottle filling support, activation pump and pig pouches) but I'll look at any pig for sale.

Also looking for a immersion chiller. Would prefer one ready to hook up to a kitchen faucet and that would work in a 5 gal pot. I do 2.5 gallon batches so smaller ones are actually ok.

Surely someone out there had a pig and has upgraded to kegging or had a chiller and has upgraded to counterflow!! I'm in OKC and can meet anyone local or would be willing to pay for shipping.

Just post here or PM me with what you have and the price you are looking to get. I can pay via paypal and would like to see pics before purchase. I know I am new here but have feedback from other sites I can provide if needed. Thanks!!

Just to let you know from personal experience the party pigs are not the best. But don't get me wrong they are alright and used mine quite a bit, but are a PITA sometimes. The priming is not the same as bottling and a little different from kegging and doesn't usually pour all that great. And do get a little pricy buying the pouches all the time. Another option but I have not tried is I haven't tried checking out the mini kegs. Or even get a 2.5 gal keg I love mine.
Good luck

2.5 gal keg systems are so expensive and I dont have an extra fridge, nor space for one to store the kegs. Priming isn't an issue, I do 2 gallon batches anyways so either it will all be bottled or all go in the pig. I tried the tap-a-draft and it ended in failure. Mini kegs are ok but the lining in them wears out after about 3 to 4 uses (so I hear) and replacing co2 bulbs is little better than replacing pouches all the time.

thanks for the ideas though, I do appreciate the feedback.

What 2.5 gal keg system do you have? Link to it?

I found mine on eBay used. Ya I do agree that they are pretty expensive. But it is so useful I have both 5 an 2.5 kegs and I put special batches in them or transfer into one to take to get togethers. And they last forever. You can then get the adapters for the bike C02 thing and a faucet and your set. It would probably take close to the same space in the fridge as a party pig. Just keep an eye out on eBay or here for one. That or bottle in bombers I personally like them over my party pigs. Not as much of a mess with bottle bombs. I almost had one with one of my pigs and it was a little tense for a bit. But in your case probably would be worth giving one a try. Just to see.

thanks, I just made an ebay search that will email me when new items come up matching 2.5 or 3 gallon keg.

Off topic (a bit), but I have to ask... What about your TAD experience ended in failure? I just bought some that I haven't been able to fill yet and wondered what troubles you've experienced.

Well, I used the miller lite home draft, not the real tap-a-draft system. however, TAD has changed their system and now it is almost exactly (if not exactly) the same as the ones used for miller/coors.

I made a wheat beer and put it in the TAD to carb. I filled one TAD and the rest with bottles. I used the tap on the TAD while carbing and I guess too much pressure built up and it all leaked out. The tap was closed and locked but I lost everything that wasnt in bottles. It wasn't overcarbed either, bottles were fine and I batch primed the whole thing. That failure really left a bad taste in my mouth. Other people use the home draft and TAD with no issues so ymmv, just telling you what I went through.
