anyone ever use european 16.9 oz. bottles i have a table top capper and the standard size caps are a little hard to press on,and it feels like I may damage the capper doing a whole batch, although it does seal the bottle...any advice?

Lots of the European bottles (most? all?) use larger, 29mm caps as opposed to the 26mm ones we use here in the US for standard 12 oz bottles. You need to get both the correct caps and the correct bell for your capper in order to bottle in those bottles. Most LHBS' and online HBS' carry the proper caps and bells to bottle in those bottles.

BTW, I love bottling in the european 750ml bottles...both beer and Champagne bottles. Makes bottling go much quicker than 12 oz bottles, and good volume to share.

If you get 26mm caps to seal it isnt 29mm bottles
16.9 is 500ml?
I have noticed that painted caps seem a bit thicker then the metal colored ones so maybe it will help using silver and gold caps on those bottles

I had a few bottles on the last batch get stuck to the capper- it was like the crown was only barely bigger than standard. Caps went on, but it took some thinking to figure out how to get the capper off. I'll measure them next time and report back.

I am thinking 29mm they sell a replacement head for my bench capper and caps herehttp://www.homebrewery.com/beer/beer-bottle-caps.shtml
