I was very fortunate in that my wife thought it would be nice to take a day trip to the brewery the day it came out. I was only allowed to buy 2 4 packs and had a some on tap. Luckily I live close enough to the ferry and the wife loves the quesadillas at the brewpub.

I would love to visit the brewpub

I tried it a couple years ago and didn't care for it at all. To me it was evident that things can be taken too far. The cloyingly sweet body could not be balanced by any amount of hops. To me it was just an all around unpleasant beer.

Just picked up 5 more I found.. I hope to god this beer is worth it!

I didn't think it was unpleasant, but just amazingly sweet. Something that I wanted to try, but don't have any desire to buy more of or try to clone. More of a novelty beer.

I prefer the 90. But none of the DFH beers are on my top 5.

Must not be "off centered" enough ;). Honestly, I've only ever had a couple of their beers. It's been so long now that I cant even recall what they tasted like.
The stores where I live have trouble getting any for some reason.

I've had quite a few. I thought the non-traditional ones were interesting. But I have no desire to have another of those. And I agree that the 120 is too sweet.

Ok my honest opinion I have been witholding with fear of getting flamed. The only reason most people want/enjoy DFH 120 is the novelty. As a homebrewer I respect their desire to experiment, but probably 60% of their stuff I feel should never be major releases and the only reason it sells is the novelty of the beers. Hey more power to them for successfully selling it!

I have huge respect for what Sam has done for the homebrewing world, but I have lost respect for him after reading his book that was just him pleasuring himself the whole time haha

They are hit and miss with me. Sometimes I think they do try to hard. You don't always want extreme beers. Sometimes I just want a hefe or whatever. That said 60 minute is up near the top for me as a regular IPA.

i fully agree on the "novelty" aspect of it as well. it caught my attention years ago, been wanting to try it forever. so when i found it, i bought a few to try and the rest to age for awhile and see what happens with them. People have been saying it ages like a coniac or brandy, so open one every year for the next decade and try them out.
hell, maybe i can sell my "vintage 2011" 120 in 2015 and make a small profit hehe.

but on their beers. a ton of them aren't ones i normally have (besides the 60/90) but i do enjoy them every so often, like midas touch on a rare occasion, or the palo i love, but can't do much of it. and of course the indian brown.

I see Sam from DFH as a brewing pioneer. No, not every beer they make is as good as the 60 and 90min IPA's but you have to give them credit for trying.

They could just take thier top 5 or so beers, make them for the next 100 years and make a fine living at it. Heck, they could even increase production and drop thier prices like BMC, But that's not what DFH, Craft brewing and Home brewing is about. It's about getting away from light, fizzy, tasteless America Lagers and making new, interesting beers.

We all take risks every time we brew a batch. Some beers are fantastic, some are not. Sam Calagione has to have some big balls to take some of the risks he does for the sake of creativity.

Having said that... I think the 120 is too sweet for me, same with Sierra Nevada's Bigfoot barleywine.

I had the Black & Red (a mint cherry stout, for those who've not read about or tried it) at the brewpub in Rehoboth last month, and thought it was pretty unique...definitely got me thinking about trying another batch of my cherry stout, and perhaps adding some mint!

They had it at the Dogfish Alehouse in NOVA this spring when I was living there. It actually wasn't a bad beer, but would have been much better for winter than spring (If I remember it's about 10%). It is more of a sipping desert beer than something you want to chug, or even drink with food.

I think they did over produce it though, still had it on tap at all 3 alehouses in the DC area last time I looked

Went to my local beverage store to pick up a couple bombers of Lagunitas Lucky 13 Mondo Red Ale (before homebrewing bought a lot of craft beer kegs from them so they know me well). As soon as I walked in they pulled a few from behind the counter for me. I politely said thanks, but no thanks. I just dont find 120 pleasing at all. Tastes way to much like hop syrup to me.
