Just wave a bottle of good homebrew over it, and put it in your wort at the last 5min of boil to sterilize.

I'd recommend connecting it to your hose and testing to be sure it doesn't leak at whatever water pressure you are pushing through it before you brew. I had one that I made and used with my kitchen sink.. tested and used in a couple brews... then put a hose connector on and used outside with garden hose and the pressure popped one of my clamps... had to repair on the spot... then had to worry if any hose water contaminated my wort. (beer turned out good - no worries)
