I was wondering if there is a thread out there or someone with exp running strike and sparge water through copper that is in a wood fire. I could save money on propane if this was a safe effective thing to do. I know that the tubing would need to be full of water and open at one end at all times while in the flames. Anybody?

I don't think you could save much as the materials cost would offset propane savings.
If you are determined, maybe look into wood stove hot water heat exchangers.
But I would think spending the time and money being more energy efficient elsewhere would n pay off better

So I already have an old 25 foot copper immersion chiller that I don't use. Just thought I'd stick it in The fire and run tap water through it. No extra cost for me at all. Wood is free too.

Ju at goggle wood fire hot water heater.
Plenty of hillbilly engineering to be seen.

This is exactly what I was talking about minus the person. I'll give it a try and make a new thread

Look into rocket stove water heaters. I think a major problem would be trying to maintain a constant temp for heating mash water without boiling. Good luck.
