I'm just over a week fermenting a maibock in the garage. Temps have been up and down from 49 to 60, and gravity dropped from 1.072 to 1.016, the kreusen is gone, so I'm pretty sure it's done with the sugars. However, there's a fairly thick brown blanket still floating on top of the beer, and it doesn't seem to want to fall.

I'm not worried*, but just want to know if this is typical behavior for this yeast. I plan to leave it for two more weeks regardless, and bottle condition it for a month or so before I start diving into it in earnest.

*...but might have a homebrew anyway.

Cold crashing it now, what with a streak of colder weather. Temp down to 46° F and will get colder tonight. True to your experience, it does seem to be thinning out some.
