Hey guys,

Last night I got a yeast starter going with a vial of WLP570 Belgian Golden ale. My goal is to build this up twice for a high gravity ale. It has been over 12 hours, and when I swirl the flask I don't see any action whatsoever.. no excessive foaming like the last few starters that I've done. Is this normal? It is sitting at around 66 degrees at the moment. My goal is to brew within the next few days, but may wait since I'm not sure this yeast will perform by the way it's looking now. Don't want to pitch a bad batch into the wort..

Thanks!

Thanks, I'll try keeping it warmer in the closet. That's probably why it's not starting, cuz the date on the vial says May, 2014 so it's fresh and I put in the fridge the moment it came in the mail.

Appreciate the info

yeah heat that sucker up to the mid to low 70's..when growing yeast go higher in temp and crash and decant nasty wort and step it up again ..when making beer go with the yeasts optimum temp range in your case 68(clovey)-75(banana)
