I already have WLP001 with me. Is it worth getting WLP051 for an imperial stout?

I want to brew a Bell's Expedition clone and can't find any commerical bottles near me to culture the yeast from.

I like 001. Its more attenuative than 051 so on a big beer like an imperial stout it will clean it up better. 051 is more flocculent, but your beer is a stout, so clarity isnt as big of an issue when it comes down to tiny flocculation details between the two. 001 is a beast, I say use it. But make a starter!

Use the 001, build a good-sized starter (1 gallon wouldn't be too large), and decant the spent starter liquid before dumping the 001 into the primary.

For a beer as big as Expedition, you'll need as much healthy yeast as you can.
