I am just trying to get a better understanding of what the 002 yeast strain will give me? I do a lot of pale ales and IPA and have always done them with the Cali Ale 001 yeast strain but I'm not considering 002 as a change in pace.

What will the 002 provide me with? Does the higher final gravity bring out more risidual sweetness? Bigger mouthfeel? I'm just not sure what to expect from it.

I've used 002 quite a bit including for a couple IPA's. My last one turned out very good. It does leave a bit of sweetness in there and definitely leaves some body so it's a nice change of pace in my opinion. I'd give it a go. It also fluctuates really well and left my IPA crystal clear. I'm working on another IPA now and plan to use 001, so we'll see how that one turns out.

002 is much more estery than 001, which is pretty much as clean an ale yeast you can find. Using 002 will result in more fruity aromas and is generally used for English styles where the fruity esters are expected. 002 also does not attenuate as well, so your FG will be higher than when using 001. This higher FG may or may not give you an impression of sweetness (I think it depends a lot on the malts used), but will definitely give you some more body/weight to the beer.
