wipe stuff off my bucket???

oi im 3 days in to first fermentation stage and my krausen has fallen and there is some green stuff (im assuming its the hops) on the side of my bucket im wondering if i should wipe it off to prevent furry friends *mold* heres a picture of it

or since my hydrometer reading was 1.012 (SG 1.047) today should i just rack to my secondary tomorrow?
ohh and it might help to know that its a california golden ale with my own hint of wheat malt

i was going to go with the 1-2-3 rule this time coz i really rushed my 1st batch but i did have a fast fermentation. even after just 3 days you would rack?

Yeah, I'd rack to secondary. For reference, don't wipe that stuff off, just leave it--won't hurt your beer.

sorry - i did not see you were only 3 days in.
it wouldn't hurt anything to leave it for the full 7 days in primary, but at 1.012 you are safe to rack to secondary.
as whelk said - don't worry about the ring on your bucket it is normal.

also - try to refrain from opening the bucket during fermentation, use a wine thief to get your sample - it will prevent oxidation and less chance of contamination.

Nah, there's probably some CO2 being off-gassed, so you're probably okay to leave it. Like fleas said, you can/should probably leave it for a week, but it's okay to transfer it too. And a wine thief is a little thing that you can dip in and grab whatever's in your fermenter.

this might make me sound like a twit but how does it get in if you dont open the fermenter?

yeah thats just hops and spent grain. dont worry if the timeing is right i would transfer to seconday. all the stuff is the clumps you see on the head of foam.

Popping the top every now and agin won't hurt anything...just don't sneeze

At 1.012, you're safe to move it to a 2ndary. If you decide to leave it, there is still plenty of CO2 being produced to provide a safety "blanket" over your brew in that bucket. If you do move it to a secondary, plan on leaving it alone for 10 days or more. Take a reading every other day starting about the 7th day and when it's static several readings in a row, bottle it.

ok i cant decide to rack now or latter what are my pros\cons of racking now or at the 7 day mark. its been 4 1\2 days since i pitched my yeast my last hydrometer reading was 1.012 ( its a california golden ale with a hint of wheat malt) and im geting a small bobble in the air lock about every 28 second. any help would ROCK!

Leaving it on the primary yeast for a week helps the yeast clean up after itself, but you can rack if you want to.
When you transfer to secondary, the movement will displace disolved CO2 which will purge air from the headspace.

Fleas...your anxiousness is understandable. We've been there.

If your gravity is 1.012 and you're eager to get-on-with-it. Go ahead and rack it to the secondary. It will be fine.

Can't fault you for your gumption. Go for it.

Each brew you do, you'll get a bit more patient. I found the easiest way to avoid rushing my finished (conditioning) beer, was to focus on my next brew.
