Red wine glasses are larger so you can swirl to release and experience the more complex aromas ("bouquet").

Because your olfactory sense is a lot more sensitive than taste, maximizing the aroma increases your perception of the wine's intricacies that much more.

Try gently inhaling through your nose as you put the wine into your mouth. :)

If it's a high quality wine, it's a lot more enjoyable to maximize the experience with proper glassware. If it's lower quality, it may not be worth the effort.

My sense of smell is a bit dented. My nose has been broken 9 times. And I am aware of the process, it just doesn't work as well for me. Wich is probably why the wife is always asking "how can you eat that?"

Sorry to hear that.
Now you've put bright stickers on your glass doors?

Just kidding ;)
