Williams Brewing Imperial Bourbon Barrel Stout

I ordered an imperial bourbon barrel stout kit from Williams Brewing. It came with powdered french oak in a foil pack. The instructions say to add it to secondary, but there is nothing about taking any sanitizing steps. Do I just pour the package directly into the secondary?

They also say to add the bourbon to the bottling bucket on bottling day. Most of what I have read say to add to secondary; any thoughts on this?

Haven't tried it but the person who I got some of my brewing gear from when I started said that was his favorite batch.

Well, I ended up tossing it in and throwing some Makers Mark on top of it... just to be safe. We'll see how it turns out.
