I bought a one gallon glass bottle with a screw top. It looks like the big jugs with a thumb handle they put wine in at the grocery store.

Would it be ok to use as a growler? I am thinking I can make the we dont need know stinking beer gun beer gun to fill it up with from my keg? Easy way to bring a gallon of home brew with me to a party.

Good idea??

Sure it will work for transporting beer and all you really need is a piece of tube... no need for anything fancy as long as the tube reaches the bottom of the growler.

The only thing you might want to be careful of is if the glass (and more likely the cap) can handle the pressure from a gallon of homebrew. The bigger the bottle, the thicker the glass needs to be.

I recently started using these 1 gallon green jugs with a plastic screw top from B3 as well. They work great if you drink the beer within a couple of days. I sent my dad with a couple to see his family and it went flat from tuesday to friday. Im not sure how long it'll stay carbed.

If it's clear you'll probably want to keep it away from sunlight and florescent light to prevent skunking. A beer loaded with hops can skunk in 10 minutes if left in the sunlight.
