So I have started my Collar work for my 5 Cubic Foot Freezer.

I'm following this write up and I started realizing a lot of people on the forum don't do it this way. Is there something wrong with this method? I'm pretty far along with the build but I do have extra wood if I need to start a new one.

I like how it has the lip but now I'm concerned my drip tray won't stick out far enough.

What do you guys think?

as a carpenter i say that it looks very nice, you can add a "nailer" to bring drip tray out.

Looks good to me! And a great video of the build. It seems like making a collar is like making homebrew...there's 100s of ways to do it, and they all get the job done!

Cheers!

I made one along the lines of this one also. The reason some don't like this is that you will need to lift your kegs up and over the collar.

Finish yours as you planned and enjoy. You and your friends will love it.

I actually watched Billy's video last night, and will probably do it the same way. Hey Billy, love your site, its probably my favorite best beer-related blog I follow.

Wow, thanks. I sure do have fun writing it, so glad you enjoy it.

Hey Billy, so is the collar not fixed to the body of the freezer? Or is it secured down?

It's not totally secured down. The wood on the font and sides hang down past the lip of the freezer so if you bumped into one of those sides, the collar would hit the freezer and not fall off. The back side does not have a low hanging part to the collar, but no one is going to bump into it and honestly the whole thing is heavy enough that it's not going anywhere.

Thanks for clearing that up.

I'll be building me Keezer next week.
