Will 50ft IC be submerged in my pot?

Hello. I have a 15 gallon 1.2 ratio brew pot 15.8" wide by 19.4" tall. I'm looking at buying a 50ft - 3/8" immersion chiller with coil dimensions of 9" in diameter and 9.5" high. Input/output lines bend 20" up from the bottom of the coil. I want to do 5 gallon batches. Will this chiller be completely submerged in the pot?

I did some calculations on paper, and it looks like a little less than 3" will be sticking out. Was wondering if anyone can verify this. Thanks.

If it is a 15 gallon pot that is 19.4" tall then a 5 gal batch will be 1/3 or that so will fill to 6.5". So no, will not be submerged. Note: the pre-cooled level will be a bit over that. And you might actually have about 5.5 gal at cooling time to account for losses so you get 5 gal in the fermentor. That could add another 3/4 to an inch, but still not covered.

But it is OK not to cover it. And it will be covered when you decide to do a 10 gal batch in your big pot.

When i got my 50ft chiller, i removed the two hose clamps that hold it together and carefully unwound it some to make fewer coils of a larger diameter. Works great for me.
