I bottled my wiessbier last weekend and took one out last night to give it a little shake (I'm not sure why, I just wanted to look inside!) anyway, I know that they are meant to be cloudy and that shaking it would stir up the yeast inside, but it seemed to have flake like particles suspended in the cloudiness. Lots and lots of them. It was like looking into a snow globe! Any ideas as to what this might be?
 
Possibly yeast that had flocculated and packed into a thin layer on the bottom of the bottle.
 
Will they have any effect on the beer/flavour or will they break down? Should I still continue to pour it into my glass (when they're carbonated, of course) as is normal with wiessbier?
 
If I'm correct about what they are (and that is not a certainty), then they may contribute to a more yeasty flavor. If you like it, you should pour it into your glass. If not, don't.

When I pour my weizenbock, I pour 80-90%, swirl up the yeast from the bottom, and then pour the rest.

I do NOT swirl up the yeast in my APAs/IPAs.
 
Also, how many beers have you made? If this is the first or second, be careful with extra yeast. It can have an astounding effect on your GI tract. Not dangerous to you...only to onlookers.

If you've made a few beers already, you know what I'm talking about.

But the yeast is where all the B vitamins are that my doc told me to take!:drunk:
 
If Liam finds the extra yeast don't agree with his system, maybe he can send you his dregs...

Ha! Yes, I've made a few batches now and am totally aware if the gaseous effects!

Sounds like flocculated yeast to me. From what I hear, commercial Weissbier sometimes is bottled after filtering, with pasteurized non-flocculatiing yeast added in addition.
 
So will this cause any problems or affect the beer negatively?
