Looking for KGB W11 clone.
I bought the last 2 bottles in our area from a small convenience store yesterday, And the warehouse says there out :(

So hopefully someone loved this beer as much as i did, and has a clone recipe or at least something very close.

Thanks

I loved the W'11 KGB. I don't have any idea on a clone, but if someone makes one up, I'd be in for trying to brew it up.

Yeah, I am with the previous poster. It is a great beer. Had it at the Zwickelmania Beerfest at the brewery in February. They had some really incredible stuff. I will subscribe to this thread. Prost!

I sent windmer a e-mail, Telling them how much i loved there beer and was asked for any hints or pointers on what they used for grains or hops.

Chances i am guessing are fairly low, But never know....
Will keep ya guys posted on if they reply or not.

Not sure if anyone is still interested in cloning KGB, but a friend of mine said he opened up a magazine, and in a Widmer ad was the recipe they use for it. He sent it to me. This is straight from the magazine, and for a 8 Bbl batch.

Initial Release: 1998
Batch Size: 8.0 Bbl

MALT BILL:
Pale Malt: 750 lbs.
Caramel 60L: 100 lbs.
Chocolate Malt: 50 lbs.
Roast Malt: 60 lbs.
Midnight Wheat: 20 lbs.

HOPS:
Alchemy: 3.0 lbs. - 90 minutes (15.4% alpha)
Willamette: 2.0 lbs. - 0 minutes (5.5%)
T-45 Cascade: 2.0 lbs. - 0 minutes (10.0%)
Zeus: 1.0 lbs. - 0 minutes (14.2%)

ADDITIVES:
Mash Salts: .125 lbs. CaSO4
Kettle Salts: .125 lbs. CaCl2
Irish Moss: .16 lbs

TARGET PARAMETERS:
Mash-In: 131-133 F
Rest Time: 15 minutes
Conversion Temp: 152-153 F
Rest Time: 30 minutes
Kettle Full Plato: 21.0 P

Fermentation Temp: 66 F
Original Gravity: 21.5 P
Terminal Gravity: 5.0 P
Bitterness Target: 65 IBUs
ABV Target: 9.3%

Yeast: American Ale 1056
Pitching Rate: 21 Million/ml

I'm sure if you entered it in beersmith and scaled it, you'd have your recipe. I did just that and here is what I came up with. I subbed Zeus for the Alchemy blend, and this is at 62% efficiency since I normally only get around 70% and this is a bigger beer.

16 lbs 10 oz 2-row
2 lbs 3.5 oz Crystal 60L
1 lb 5.3 oz Special Roast (is this the same as roast malt?)
1 lb 1.7 oz Chocolate Malt
7.1 oz Midnight Wheat

1 Oz Zeus (boil 90 min)
.71 Oz Cascade (0 min, steep)
.71 Oz Willamette (0 min, steep)
.35 Oz Zeus (0 min, steep)
