I just did my second AG batch sparge with my ice cube cooler. This was a 10 gal batch of SN Pale Ale clone from Midwest. The first mash was almost 2 hours long because my manifold came loose and I had to run to Lowes to get some gloves to fix it. My OG should have been 1.046 but mine was 1.05. I'm not worried and freaking out I'm just curious to why. I did taste it and it was very sweet with little malt taste. Was it because of the long mash?

everyone gets a different amount of sugar extraction out of their grain.

Using the exact same grain bill, someone with good efficiency can get a lot higher OG than someone low efficiency.

You're OG might be high because you were more efficient than your recipe assumed you would be.
