So I find it odd that a search online for a Baltika no 8 clone returns nothing (other than clones of other Baltika beers). This beer has a tendency for a wide span of reviews, some say it's terrible while others say it's right up there with the masters of hefe weizens. I'm in the second camp obviously and have to wonder if this Russian brewer may have had issues with consistency in the past or if some people are running into bad/old bottles at times. For crying out loud it's won a gold three times at the international brewer's competition yet people still want to tell you it's terible probably because it's a big brand and from Russia.
All that said, this beer warrents cloning but I don't quite have the skill set to pull it off myself. Has anybody gotten close? Anybody want to give it a shot?? This is a great and well balanced summer beer people!
Cheers,
David
