I'm actually going for a garlic-hot pepper porter later this summer, a la Sriracha sauce. I wonder if trying instead to make a sour as the base would be better, but I'm not yet ready to make a sour ale

I mostly do normal beers. My last two beers were a maibock and an alt. But I've been thinking about "crazy" beers lately.

Our club participates in a couple of festivals. For the most part, I see the normal beers we offer sit while the Jalapeno Helles, Coconut Milk Stout and Triple Berry Wheat go like hotcakes. I'm thinking this is because all the commercial breweries are mostly offering normal stuff and we're the only ones offering the unique stuff. I'm also thinking if someone wants an IPA, they're more likely to want one of the 15 commercial examples available (something they'd pay for otherwise). So I'm thinking about crazy beers to have something that actually gets drank at these festivals.

I smoked two pounds of oatmeal today with pecan wood, and I have some pecan chips that I sawed up and baked in the oven at 350, then I put the oven on broil just until the chips started to smoke, now they are soaking in bourbon I plan to dry hop with them. This brew is next on my list. It may not turn out good, but it may be interesting, I enjoy experimenting.
