Is this yeast or an infection? There are some floating on top too. About 8 days into primary.

Difficult to say for sure without being there, but I'm 95% sure that's yeast that hit the side when you pitched.
 
Same thoughts here. I had something similar happen and it really freaked me out, but the beer was fine.
 
Did you use dry yeast? I had the same sneaking suspicion using notty in a glass carboy the first time. Then I was mad that I didn't get all the yeast I'm my wort. It'll be fine.
 
Looks like left over krausen stuck to the side after a vigorous fermentation. Nothing to worry about.
