I'd like to try growing three different hops, enough for some variety, but few enough to realistically take care of. I'm thinking I'd definitely like to get Cascade growing, it's very versatile. I wish I could get Amarillo for the straight delicious juiciness it brings, but alas.... What other two varieties should I buy? Should I get two rhizomes of each to get started?

Hallertau sounds good. I've never used Galena, what's it like/good for?

I didn't mention it originally, but I'm in nothern GA. Should I know anything about climate preferences of any particular hop variety?

I live in the cold north. I have cascades and hallertauer, and both are doing well. I would guess the hallertauer would be tough for you, where it's warm. The cascades would do well just about anywhere, I believe.

I'm going to be buying some centennial this year, and possibly some chinook.

Good point about Hallertau. Guess Deutscheland is significantly higher latitude than Georgia.

So, I think I'll try Cascade for a citrusy one, Sterling (if I can find it) for spicy, and Columbus (or Chinook) for a high AA. What say ye?
