Hey guys,

I'm three hours from my nearest homebrew store and need to get some grain bags ASAP. Do you know of any places I could get a grain bag or something that will work just like a grain bag (would cheese cloth work)? Thanks, I have a few guys coming over to brew and would hate to send them away!

Appreciate it!

cheesecloths should work. I have also seen people mention paint straining bags found at local hardware stores.

are you using them for hop additions or BIAB?

How much grain? Are you just steeping a pound or two and doing extract? Do you have a kitchen strainer? Local hardware store might have paint strainer bags?? You could also steep in a smaller pot and carefully pour the wort off the grain. Cheesecloth would likely work as well. You should be able to come up w/ a work a round plan. I would not sweat it if you get a touch of grain in w/ the boil, it will settle out when you rack.

You can also get the paint strainer bags from blowe's or home cheapo. I also use a clean cake cooling rack in the bottom of the kettle to keep the bag from melting/grains burning on the bottom. The cake rack seems to let the hot/boiling water circulate pretty well too.

Thanks guys! I would be using it for the grains in a mini-mash. I might get the grain bags in time for the brew session, but now I have some backup plans in case it doesn't get here in time.
