I made a batch of stout for my second batch and rather then going through a kit I decided to follow a recipe I found and just by all the ingredients separate. It was using extract and steeping and I ended up spending like 80$ US on ingredients. Is there a cheap online place that doesn't charge much for shipping? I just want to compare and see if I can get a better deal.

I extract + grains oatty I'm making cost me just under $60.00. It was about $48 for the grains, DME, hops and yeast, $1.28 for the oats, $5.00 for 4 gallons of water (Ice Springs is on sale) and $1.30 for a bag of ice. I also bought another mesh bag and some iodophor.

I had some rice hulls lying around from my last batch, so I didn't add that cost in, nor did I subtract the surplus grains that I had to purchase since they don't sell in 1/2 pounds.

Beer, Beer and More Beer offers some good brew kits, equipment and recipes with free UPS ground shipping for orders over $50. I saw support your local brewery supply, but it is a long way off for me and buy mainly on line.

I started with a Mr. Beer outfit and advanced to bucket-carboy brewing with extracts and steep grains.
