Coopers Real Ale:
-Made wort and started Primary 2 Dec: SG: 1.045, Observed airlock and krauesen activity. Temp varied from 67-72
-Racked to Secondary 9 Dec (forgot what the reading was and I'm at work now DOH! so I can't look it up)
-Bottled (added 3/4 cup boiled dextrose) 16 Dec: FG: 1.0125

To date (what, 6 days), the beer is as clear as can be, with no sediments, no swirling, nada. I've read 'patience is key', 'relax have a home brew', et. al. but this time I am the one who is having doubts :p

What do ya'll think?

You won't notice anything in the bottle, other than a little sedinment on the bottom. There won't be any activity. You still need to give it about 3 weeks from bottling date before you should drink it, but a tester bottle every couple of days won't hurt. Beware the gas.

I'm not exactly sure of your question. The only way to tell if it is carbonating properly is to pop one open. But no sediment layer on the bottom could be a concern, but I wouldn't jump the gun. 6 days, you could open one and see. If the carbonation is low but there, then you should be ok. It is still rather young, but you should be starting to see some carbonation there.

You won't see activity in the bottles. The CO2 stays dissolved until the cap is removed.

Active ferments in bottles are called bombs.

Lol, ^^ what he said :p

the gas is great for two reasons....

1. You have a scapegoat i,e. your dog

2. SWMBO has been nagging more than usual, and then its payback

ahhh. Carbonation. Does that mean there should be some amount of bubbles? Or nothing at all UNLESS I pop a top?

Correct. You should see some evidence of bubbles effervescing to the surface and a head should be starting to take shape (most likely with a vigorous pour). You may even hear a "fssst" when you pop the cap.

Alternately, you can toss bottles, grenade-style, at those rat bastard neighbor kids when the traipse through your goddamned lawn, and note how big the explosion is when the bottle shatters on their rat bastard skulls. If it kasplodes with a forcefulness, it's ready.

That's MY method, anyway...

I never notice anything in my bottles, even when I shake them. Just a thin ring of yeast at the bottom.

If you did everything right, then in 7-10 days you'll have full carbonation. Still best to wait 3 full weeks though.

Man, I love kegging. No more bottle woes.

Bastard... I hate you and all the other kegging hippies of the world.

I need to get myself a keg setup. Anyone have $200.00?

As to the original question... give it some more time, 6 days is still young. I usually wait at least 1 1/2 weeks before I get impatient and thirsty.

Then the gas DOES come. My first batch I got so impatient, it gave me acid reflux... which hasn't gone away since. I love me some prilosec :mug:

Dang, is that all you need? Hrmm....Yeah but what about cooling it....hehe...(not that I cool all my beers)

Are the Corny's the things that look like the containers they use for soda machines? (the images are blocked by work as "alcohol/tobacco/nudity"
